SFO Catering Meltdown

Today was the transition of United ending a long time Gate Gourmet contract and switching to LSG SkyChefs, who would, in turn, drop all other clients to focus solely on United.

Domestic flights and lounges get water and crackers for all cabins. International, including SIN, SYD, AKL, MNL ect get very crappy mass produced microwaved meals and water. All cabins. I'm hearing crews are getting really crappy food.

Until July 16th is the word.

Knuckleheads. Anyone suffering? Gee, if only they didn't snub my interview for ops manager. Clearly they hired smarter people with less personality.

I’m so glad I’m back to work tomorrow! Its been 3 weeks + since my last tillamook cheeseburger and boy how I’ve missed them!

I can’t even look at them anymore. I used to just grab the pickles off the tray and put the rest on the floor next to the cockpit door.

The only thing worse was the salmon bowl 🤢

What difference does ~50 days make?

Any idea why LSG is unable to provide the standard beverages, stroopwafel etc.?
Someone told me that they weren't trained on how to organize the galley carts and where they're suppose to go on the aircraft, so they can't get the carts prepared until then.

But as you said why can't they bring single trays preassembled with basics, I have no clue.

Arrange galley carts and where they go on aircraft?

Hell, back in the UAX days of 2010-2012, all catering did (Commissary in United-speak) was pull up the airplane and drop off a trash bag filled with sodas and bag of ice. The FA had to put it all away.

Damn kids....(walks off muttering)

Memories of sitting up front reading the pages and pages of MELs and listening to the lone FA in the back curse as she drops a can on the floor and it rolls out thevopen galley door, while trying to cram it into an Atlas tray when she accidentally ordered too many and is trying to figure out which overhead bin to stuff the bag of extras in...

We were told that whatever the plane brought in is all we would have yesterday. Luckily it was a quick one down to LAX

Their stuff is way better than it has any right to be.

It tends to be a hair cheaper than the airport food at JFK, too.
Even cheaper if you order off the app. I like them...easy way to get a relatively healthy quick bite to eat
