Serial # HELP

Hey,

I'm trying to buy a new computer. Well, since the computer is so much I'm not able to get all of it financed. So for part of it I'm having to take out a loan to pay for it. Well, I got approved for the loan, but the loan people said they need serial numbers to every part of the computer that the loan is covering. Well, I told them that I can't give them serial numbers until the computer has been purchased. I'm not able to purchase it b/c I ain't got the money to pay for it so that's why I'm taking out a loan, but they said they need serial #'s. Why can't they just understand? I thought the whole purpose of a loan was to buy something that you need that you ain't got the money for. Is there anybody that can get serial #'s to parts of a computer? I'm planning on purchasing a Dell. Thanks.

Just make them up.

Option one is to call Dell and try to get the numbers from them. Serial numbers are unique to an individual piece of equipment so they're the only ones that would have the numbers off "your" stuff.

Second, a bank loan for a PC? You're probably better off with Dell financing and putting the balance on a credit card if necessary.

I would, but knowing the company they would probably call up and verify the info. Sucks.

Well, I'm able to get part of it financed through Dell financing, but part of it I can't. I would put it on a credit card, but I just recently got rid of them b/c they were becoming a pain in the butt. I've already called DELL and asked for serial #'s, but the guy said the SKU #'s that are given should satisfy them and if it didn't then have them call him. Well, I told them that, but they're just •. Excuse my language. I'm just mad right now b/c I'm in a need for this specific computer plus I've been working so hard on this yesterday and look where it gets me. NO WHERE! I guess I just got to keep on trying.
 
If the dumb@$$es in customer service can't help you try gettining sent to tech support. Since they likely have a warranty available it is just as likely that the techs responsible for ordering replacement parts for the system would have access to the part serial numbers etc. I have a gateway laptop that i had to do just that. It took three phone calls and about five hours but that is how i got it done. Good luck and hope that helps.

Also, does anybody know what the Sony VAIO desktop computers are like? & would you recommend one for playing games such as MS Flight Simulator 2004 if I got like one of the best ones they have? Thanks.

Are you sure this is the best computer for you? The name has nothing to do with whether MS Flight Sim 2004 will work well. Yes there are some Sony models that will play MS Flight Sim great, and YES there are some Sony models it will not work quite as well on. You need more details about this computer i.e. processor speed, ram, etc. If you don’t mind my asking, where are you buying this computer from?

Actually, I just had a dell guy named, Josh, how ironic, but he is calling my bank and is going to try to get them to work with me on this about serial numbers. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to call up a friend and get some serial numbers just to shut their mouth up.

Why not spend that money to get your private and fly real airplanes instead?

Is Nasa going to be borrowing this computer??? I hope you are just not buying it for MSFS.

I would pass on your problem to your DELL salesman. He has quota to meet, and has the sale made just needs to work out problems. He alsohas the info you need. Do not get squeezed in the middle, your bank and salesman can sort it out, and they both want to!!!
 
Loan for a computer? A top computer can't cost more than $1500....

I don't have that kind of money to be spending on PCs (or anything else really), but for eh..
