Anybody ever use a Sennheiser HMEC 25-KA ANR headset in GA aircraft? I'm wondering if the comparatively light weight and size is worth the tradeoff of "only" 31dB of total noise reduction (passive and active). A set of rugged DCs with ANR, for example, have better overall ANR performance but are significantly heavier and take up more space. I realize it might also be a matter of personal preference and I will have to try various models before I reach my own conclusion but I'd still love to hear some of your opinions (especially those of you with first hand experience).

Well, I don't have first hand experience with the aviation headsets but I DO own two pairs of Sennheiser headphones (for home audio). I have a pair of HD 525's and the noise-cancelling PXC-250's. Some day when I enough money to blow I'll buy the HD 600's (the creme de la creme).

I've owned the HD525's for about 8 years and they've held up very well. It's a German company but the audio headphones are assembled in Ireland. I'd highly recommend giving Sennheiser a try... I have a pair of David Clarks that were given to me, otherwise I would've bought a pair of Sennheiser aviation headsets.
