Aww man, it's just like when we had a bunch of newhires on the ER up in JFK. You'd be on a layover and the noobie would always suggest that you're not a man unless you can finish the meat plate "for two" all by yourself at the Balkan Grill in Den Haag. Or 'Hey man, shorts, short-sleeves and no DEET is a-ok in Accra! Meet ya at dusk by the pool?"

;)

Stoppit!!

Dangit, folks, I'm just trying to grab onto a widebody captain seat before I hit mandatory age 75 retirement!

9 days off per month? Srsly?

Like a bunch of others on this site I taught students from China to fly and they have been flying for the airlines over there for a few years now.

Compared to ours, their monthly schedule is total garbage.

9-10 days off, even for long-haul pilots, is the norm.

I would bet that they aren't doing a 16 hour workday either though, or several 14 hour days in a row with 9 hour layovers. They typically do daytrips or two-day trips. There is no commuting.

In China though, that is a lot better than working in a factory for 4-5 days off a month so they do not dislike their job, they are just jealous of the days off that I can get here.

I'm going over for a week weeks next month to see for myself.

Wait!!! They skipped the CFI, Banner Towing, 135 route and went straight to the airlines?

Well, I know the deal. This is my 3rd year in the Central Valley of CA training the Chinese.
