"See You Next Time"

A guy I was flying with said that that statement means something I dare not say on here. And if I wanted to give a hardy F-you to a controller then I should say, 'See you next time" when checking off.

Is it so?

You are right, but do all or most controllers know this?

If you use the exact words See You Next Time, most controllers will know.

I use "see ya" a lot. That is just being nice. You could always readback the handoff....wait 10-15 secs. Then in your deepest voice "long live reagan!"

But I love 99.998% of controllers so I would never suggest doing such things. I know I have wasted more of their time then they have mine.

Not to change the subject or anything but I will NEVER refer to Washington National as "that former President of the United States' last name" National Airport.

NEVER!

Are you serious? I say this relatively often....

Me too... I always fly out of the same airport and always IFR, so when tower hands me off to departure, I say "XXX, off to departure, see ya next time" or "XXX, off to departure, cya!" ... adding to that, I know some of the controllers working the tower...

Have I really been calling the tower a c-u-n-t this entire time? I've been doing this for years! :rotfl:

EDIT: So I just googled it...and while nothing specific to ATCs, it did show up as a popular result. Ooopsies.

I'm aware of the phrase and why one might want to use it. Although I've never used it with a controller myself, I've always assumed it was reserved for situations involving female controllers who gave a less than desirable level of service or were otherwise acting like a wanker but I suppose it works for men as well.

I would be shocked if there was a controller working today who doesn't know what it means. But I would also suspect that most can tell when the person saying it is just being polite/doesn't know vs trying to insult them simply by the way its said. Either way, I make it a point not to say it because I generally don't want to be rude to controllers.

And on that note, if you see Kay... :D

1. Everything is recorded.
2. Anything recorded can come back to haunt you.
3. See ya!
