seaplane training

So I am taking vacation next month and one of the options I am considering is getting my seaplane rating. I have done a bit of research on the topic, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific schools that they would recommend. I am open to travelling anywhere in the country, but would ideally like to go somewhere with beautiful scenery, in addition to experienced instructors and reliable aircraft. Any suggestions? :nana2:

Houma, LA has an FBO called Hammonds Air. The guy that runs the place is Charlie Hammond. He is a great "old" aviator. They have a 182 amphib that is in really good shape. I can't say that Houma has a lot of beautiful scenery.

The FBO has pictures all over everywall of different aircraft signed by people. Charlie's son was a Top Gun instructor and actually did a lot of the flying for the movie. Just good people to talk to.

Jack Browns Seaplane base in Winterhaven/Lakeland area of Florida is the best.

If your looking for scenery there is a place up north, I think in Michigan that takes you out on a trip for your training. Can't remember the the name, maybe someone else can. May be a bit cold up there right now.:bandit:

surfside up by minneapolis MN in the summertime.

i mean... minnesota does have 11842 lakes that are 10 acres or more.

seaplanes land on water :buck:

Seattle Sea Planes or Kenmore Air! Not much beats flying the San Juan Islands/Puget Sound on a nice VFR day. Kenmore has been around for quite a long time, and is pretty well known. Seattle Sea Planes has a little better rates (or did last summer), and they have a pretty nice 172 on floats that a lot of people like to fly so they can concentrate on the flying rather than learning an unfamiliar plane. Quite a long way from from Atlanta though...
