SCOPE2012: Guess what RJ AMR wants?

– Scope remains as the biggest unresolved issue as the two sides fight over the size of jets that regional partners could fly. The difference is three seats and 7,000 pounds– APA wants a ceiling of 76 seats and 86,000 pounds and American wants to go to 79 seats and 93,000 pounds.

One would suspect that American has a certain airplane in mind. But if so, we don’t know what it is.

Either way, both the MRJ and the C-Series won't be out for at least 3 more years assuming all the development goes smooth. I'm very curious as to what RJ they have in mind. APA and AMR are fighting over 3 seats here.

Exactly my thoughts regarding the MRJ. I believe AMR wants the CRJ 1000. According to Wikipedia the CRJ 1000ER has a MTOW of 92,800lbs

DC-9-15 MGTOW: 90,700 Lbs.
CRJ-1000ER MGTOW: 91,800 Lbs.

Mainline guys don't want to fly those 'baby jets'... no, sir.

Hopefully APA can hold the line at 76 seats/86,000 Lbs. (Even though that was right around the DC-9-10 MTOW) Every job that the APA can hold onto (through holding onto scope) is another one that one of us can fill between now and 2026 as the retirements ramp up.

Maybe a 190 with less seats or a 175 with 79 seats? The 175 flying for USAir Express have 80 seats I believe down from (86 seats in all coach).

AMR says the vast majority of their issues were due to high personnel costs...but now their accepting what will end up being almost a 30.6% pay increase over the next 6 years? Seems...odd...on their part. Good on APA, but is there something I missed?

175 AR model may be a possibility with its 89,000lb MTOW. 190 is not a possibility, lightest one has MTOW of 104,500lbs. I think the CRJ1000 is the strongest possibility because its MTOW is almost exactly the 93k AMR is looking for, well past the MTOW of the heaviest 175.

The MRJ is my guess, which would be hilarious being that it hasn't flown yet.
FLOWN?! Have they even stamped a single piece of metal to start producing it yet? I don't think they have... They're still 3-5 years out before you see that plane on US turf is my assumption.
Didn't republic is or skywest make an order for those? Or am I thinking about the C series?
TSA is supposed to be the first launch customer of the MRJ with 50 MRJ's, and the option for 50 more. The LOI is on their site.

I don't doubt what assumption at all, quite frankly.

Could well be the CRJ-1000 too.
