So I am holding a relese here tonight for my flight to ABQ from DEN.

Convective sigmet charlie series TX NM
Tops above FL450
Tornadoes... Hail 1 inch... wind gusts of 50kt

Glad I'm not on this flight!!

They already re-worked it a few times and added over 4000 lbs of fuel. The funny thing that I dont get is the burn actually went down though after the fuel was added? 21.5 for fuel is alot for a 733 to get to ABQ from DEN.

Probably adding the weight to make maneuvering speed go up. That'd be my guess, but of course I have no airline exp!

Tough Wx though! I think I'd stay put, pop open a cold one and watch for funnel clouds!

Well, the fuel was added becuase the initial alternate for ABQ was ELP but that was on the other side of the storm. They changed that and when I told them we were not carrying as much freight as initially thought they upped the fuel and changed the alternate to PHX so they didnt have to go through the sigmet. I think the speed will stay the same. I just cant believe we are taking over 4 times as much fuel as the enroute burn. Wild stuff going on tonight.

Speaking of rotten weather...

Yesterday I spent all day outdoors. It was about 50 and pretty much sunny all day. Ate breakfast out on my deck, attempted to fix the brakes on my truck...all that fun stuff.

Today there's 3-4 inches of snow.

[/ QUOTE ]That is a pretty "Standard" SIGMET for thunderstorms... They always include the tops, Tornados, hail to 1" and wind gusts... I have seen SIGMETS with tops to FL650...

yeah, we got that convective sigmet last night enroute from DEN-AUS. Pretty impresive light show out to the west of our route. We were fortunate enough to bypass the weather. Of course now as I sit in the hotel the storms are brewing again so we'll see.....
