Save the contract towers

I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. The FAA is just blowing smoke. All they're doing is just throwing a temper tantrum because they're not able to increase their budget. Just kick back relax and don't get too excited about this.

Tell that to the guys with the pink slips saying they don't have jobs after this month. I have a feeling both sides are playing chicken and no one is moving.

No, they aren't playing games...

I might be wrong but I think the controllers who are Fed. employees are protected for one year. I think their collective bargaining agreement has a provision that requires one year notice before closing a facility. I don't think the contract controllers have the same protection.

It's 30 days from what I've been reading, hence the April 1st date...30 days after Sequester. About 4 or 5 towers in my area are on the block.

If or when they do close, is it going to be permanently? I cant find anything online other then a list of possible closures and the amount being cut from the FAA budget.

Maybe if the user fees for General Aviation/Corporate Aviation were brought up to world wide standards here in the United States, these towers/facilities wouldn't be threatened to close.

Maybe if we had a President that actually wanted to lead, as opposed to simply playing politics and punishing people for a political victory the towers wouldn't be threatened to close either. Obama's probably giddy with anticipation at the thought of a mid-air and how he can use that for political advantage just like he did with the kids from Sandy Hook.

Then what is your solution to 'save' these contract towers? Because the only other way I see it is if we increase spending, which I am ok with, but the Republicans on here cry about. But, then on the other hand, the Republicans on here are VERY hypocritical because all they have been talking about for the last two years was 'WE NEED TO CUT SPENDING', but once it hits a service they use, they say 'WE NEED TO INCREASE SPENDING'.

Wow you are posting outside of the lav! Congrats!

Maybe if we hadn't been dumping money on all the towers that do nothing for all these years we'd have money to keep the ones that are useful open.
