What is the starting salary for a&p techs when it comes to the different sectors of aviation? Do the majors always pay more?

I've always heard the large MROs don't pay very well but a new A/P can get hired and gain experience that might land them a job with a major, I've also heard the same thing about regionals. My experience has been the highest paid mechanics are either corporate or are long time Fedex or UPS people, six figure incomes. Although there is money to be made as a contractor I'd advise against it, the trade-off in QOL isn't worth it. Happy to answer any other questions. Forgot to answer your question, truth is I don't know,I started doing this 22 yrs. ago and I think my job paid $13/hr in 1993.

You'll make more at your local toyota stealership, but then you'd have to work on cars...

I know an airframe mechanic near Lansing, Michigan who mainly fixes multi-engine turbine helicopters for $32.51/hr. He has a great benefits package too.
He's not going to get rich, but he loves his job, he's home every night, works 4 days/week, and earns an adequate salary to live comfortably.
