Ryanair buys 175 B737's

Based on what my friends (who have worked for them as cabin crew) say.....stay away. The small out lying base if you happen to live there would be about the only thing going for you.

Don't they make their pilots pay for coffee on the airplane?
Yes, Ryanair pilots have to pay for their own coffee, food, uniform (which they have to return if they quit), their own type rating which Ryanair charges €28,500 (even guys who already had a 737 type rating still had to pay for the Ryanair type rating, I'm serious), your own lodging during type rating, your own parking at the airport, etc... you even have to pay for your own interview. Water is free for pilots, so if you bring your own instant coffee mix then you can save some money.

But since it is the only airline in Europe who has been hiring 200 hour pilots in mass numbers from all training backgrounds for the past few years, they have over 8000 applications on file.

This is the way the industry is headed in Europe, so I am heading back to America for awhile.

Wow, can't believe anyone would be desperate enough to work for that sort of outfit. It has to be bad for moral if you hate who you work for.

I've heard that if you charge your cell phone using "Company electricity" from an outlet in ops, etc.......your fired.

You would be surprised. The European job market for pilots is pretty sad. It is all about time on type here, and there is very little general aviation (I even know a low cost A320 captain who said he doesn't recommend aerial work jobs because the airlines only care about time on type, and he had extensive fish spotting and instructing time before landing an airline job). Where I am, it is actually easier to get hired at Ryanair than get hired as a flight instructor (not saying that it is that easy to get hired at Ryanair). Lots of guys view Ryanair as just a stepping stone to move on, because for most guys it is the only chance to get a foot in the door here.

Can we start calling it for what it is people.

We can also use a deep French accent to make it sound more degrading

Prostituée pilote!
Prostituée de l'avion!
Not that it matters much in the USA, but we can also refuse to interview people who have worked as prostitutes. Eventually some people with dignity will make their way to the hiring boards, one would think.
For example... "Hi I'd like to drop off a resume/cv"
"Oh ya we're hiring, let me take a look.... Ryanair huh?" *Throws it in the trash in front of the person*
