Hey, I start enroute basics at the Academy on Feb. 23rd and I reserved a 1 bedroom at the Highland Pointe Apartments (Corporate Housing Solutions) for February 20th through June 20th.

Im writing this because there is also a 3 bedroom available for this time as well. If I were to get 2 roomates, it would cost each of us only $22.66 a day. If I only got one roomate it would still only be $31.50 a day for each of us. These are by far the nicest FAA Approved housing available. If you are also starting training on Feb. 23rd or around that time and are looking for a place let me know so we can arrange for the 3 bedroom. PM me or respond to this thread and let me know asap if you are interested.

The website is for the apartments is www.faarooms.com

Below is information about the apartments I got from the website:
Each unit is completely furnished with a new microfiber couch and love seat, new housewares, new microwave, dishwasher, pillow top queen size mattresses, and washer and dryer (all furnishing less than 1 year old!!!). 70+ Cable channels, high speed Internet, all utilities included and .....
**Brand New 37" Flat Panel LCD TV's**.

The apartment complex itself is five years old (not 20-30 like other FAA housing). It features a pool, gated entry, free on-site car wash and vacuum center, free coffee bar, free business center with computer and printer, jogging trails, movie exchange, and 24 hr fitness center. Valet trash pick up Mon, Wed, and Fri mornings from the curb in front of your unit. Garages may be available for $2 per day (avoid hail damage) and local phones are available upon request or an additional fee of $1.00 each per day.
The complex is 10-15 minutes from the FAA center, 2 blocks from the interstate and 2 blocks from grocery stores and fast food restaurants and just 5 freeway miles West of the corner of Reno and MacArthur where there is just about every restaurant and store you could need. We are not located near the "other" apartments you may have heard horror stories about. We ARE located in the booming Yukon area, a newly developing city, a place where you would want your family to live. Remember, you get what you pay for! Check out our pictures and book quickly.
We're not the cheapest or the most expensive, but we are the nicest!

That's just too much money. $53/day is $1590 a month (30 days)!!! You can get a furnished "non-FAA" apartment in a decent neighborhood for $500 a month and pocket the other $1000 dollars! If you're there for terminal you're there for 3 months. That's $3000 dollars! You can buy your own flat panel TV for that much!! Actually you can probably buy 4 of them!

And, before anyone else asks, you do get to keep your per diem. ALL OF IT. Even if the apartment takes credit cards. That government credit card payment program is completely optional!! I called student services yesterday and confirmed this myself.

Save your dollars!

Oh, and if you're not driving down, you can still get a rental car for $639 a month. You can still save money :)

That was an the interesting e-mail I got back from student housing. Thought it was the new mandatory thing. I'll be using my own card so I bank all the frequent flyer miles and get a few extra dollars.
