Rockin\' and Rollin\'

YeeHAAA!! Rockin’ and rollin’ today—under the hood, no gyros, wings a-rollin’ (standard rate a memory), canyons of air pockets giving me NASA-style weightless training. Missed approaches, holds, circling to land. Arrg. Just a little bit queasy at the end there, but nothing a veggieburger and coffee couldn’t fix. Yow, man, partial panel nonprecision approaches with turbulence that makes the plate impossible to read at times. Somehow, flying in actual rainstorms at night during that long X-C was easier! The last two lessons were sim sessions, so this was the first time in an airplane in two weeks. First landing was a greaser short field/soft field crosswind landing. In that second landing, though, I got a gust so bad I was ballooning even with the nose BELOW level. No problem, though; just add a touch of power and “reflare” for a safe touchdown on a 5,000 foot runway. CFI-IA says it is time to plan out my IFR X-C. Yes! Maybe I will make my January goal.
