Riverside Tour

I'm coming in from St. Louis to take a look at the ATP Riverside operation at the end of this month. I am strongly considering going there after I receive my ppl. I have called twice to schedule a visit (not an interview) and both times have been told they do not schedule visits and I should just show up. The last call I was told that someone would show me around if they weren’t busy if not just to poke around on my own. I’m flying across country to visit the school so I would rather get a quality tour and all of my questions answered rather than poke around on my own. Does anyone know if their is a preferred time of day to come or a direct number to call just to give someone a heads up about my visit. I understand all of the employees there are quite busy so I’m more than willing to work around their schedules but I definitely can not afford to have a uninformative visit. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matthew

Thats the number I have called twice. May not be a big deal but I would hate to show up out there and be left showing myself around.

I truly understand your concerns. When i was talking to ATP i talked to James Krzeminski [jamesk@allatps.com]
He was very helpful when i was checking them out. Maybe e-mail him and see if he can help. Good Luck

You have to understand that the individual offices don't have any administrative or management staff-it's just flight instructors. I'll be honest that just poking your head into an ATP office on a random day may not leave you impressed, since it's what goes on in the aircraft that they do (or I did) so well. The offices aren't large, and typically have an office, a couple of briefing rooms, and a sim. When I worked in Vegas we had many people drop by, and I was always willing to talk if I was there, but it takes about 5 minutes to show them the whole place. It is amazing how much they can get done with those resources though.

Also remember the instructors aren't specialists in financing, scheduling, industry analysis, or career placement-they just instruct. Now if you want to know how to shoot a VOR approach...

When someone is interested in the career pilot program, you call and ATP will schedule an interview at that location. That gets listed on their schedule, so someone will be there at that time.

There are quite a few former and present ATP instructors here on Jetcareers, so you might want to ask us what you need to know.

Best of luck.

I had no problem setting up a visit to the Riverside ATP office over the 800 number. As was previously suggested, if you are having diffuculties doing so, maybe ask for James Krzeminski.

I'd highly recommend doing the tour as you want to--that was what helped me choose ATP. You can read the brouchres, which are great, but until you see how nice the Seminoles are (and the brand new sim) and get a chance to talk to a instructor for a few minutes in person, you don't fully realize that what the brouchres show isn't just hype, it's true.

Riverside is a great place to train. PM me when you make it out, I might be around.
