reviews on ATP locations

Hello, I am interested in hearing what people have to say about their respective ATP locations where they did their training.
I need to find a location to complete the rest of my training.
Thanks

I attended GKY (Arlington Muni) in Dallas Tx. One of the best places that I've seen. Nice facilities, I had a awesome appartment, (most of the other appartments I saw were trashed, and new 2008 seminoles.

Houston was all old aircraft, instructors were always grumpy and the office seemed disorganized. Good thing I only stayed there for 2 days on overnights.

VGT was a mad house. Most instructors were good but some were not. Scheduling was horrible there was no system, you just kinda write your name and plane on the day but there was no organization. Planes were great, except the Cessnas were a bit rough. The instructors were way way way over worked. Depending on the type of training will depend on your experience.

I second the Arlington, TX location. Although back when I went through the GKY airport wasn't as busy as it is now. You did have to watch out for Delta QualiCrash's foreign students then though. I wonder if they're still around.

I will 3rd GKY allthough I finished there 3 years ago this month. It was great back in 07. New aircraft (back then we were happy with 01's and 05's.

Delta qualicrash. Ha. I never heard that one. We had a different name but I don't think it's PC. Last I heard DQ got kicked off the airport. That was just what I heatd tho.

I know the instructor at Bowling Green, Jon, is very very good. Its slower there and you will get more one on one time. I highly recommend him if you are going the ATP route. Also, the examiner Dave, is an amazing person and wants you to succeed.

DQF moved out to Spinks in late 2008 I believe. To the OP I've been to all of the major locations. I was excited that GKY was a maintenance base. Apts were adequate.

TTN is a pretty laid back location and the chief instructor is as good as it gets. The JAX location at least while I was in the program was too high strung, everyone walked around like they were about to be fired and students were not allowed to hang out at the front desk. It seemed to be more of a child care center than a professional flight operation. But it was not all bad one of the lead instructors Matt B is one of the finest people I have ever met and one of the examiners Rich is probably one of the funniest people in aviation as well as a heck of a pilot. I would pick TTN myself because I like a small family feel to aviation but you really cant go wrong being at the beach.

I chose GKY because I felt like it was the best choice for me... I have heard good things about it and am heading there on the 30th to start the program. I'll let you know my first impressions when I get there!

I'm also a KGKY alum (2008). I received a great education in Texas, and now offering a great education at the San Diego location.

FYI - DQ moved to Fort Worth Meachem during my tenure there.

Phoenix, period.

I live in NY city area, started the program last autumn and chose to to PHX location mostly because of better weather in Arizona. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Got every $$ worth out of it, without exaggeration.

(I hear that in summer the desert heat is brutal though.)

That's right it was Meachem. Thanks for the correction...You were @ GKY 2008? when did you finish up?

Hey Snuggles I was there in '08 also. When did you finish up. I was there from Jun-Oct including the RJ course

PHX is definitely a great location. VGT is a complete disaster but it is because they won't get some one in there who gives a crap. Frank's CFI school is lame because all he does is fly with you once and give the ground school with out allowing you to ask questions. He is aggravating to deal with because if you bust on your initial he will just tell you to get with another CFI and if you bust again you are out. Go to PHX and don't get your CFI in Vegas.

You shouldn't have to fly with frank more than once. And you shouldn't be busting twice on checkrides either.

You bust any checkride twice at ATP and your done. At least that was my experience at ATP. Luckily I got through without busting anything.
