Resume Writing

I am applying to various regionals. Is it acceptable to put prior work experience on a resume OTHER than flying? All I have is Flight Instructor. My last job was at an insurance company 2 years ago. Do I list the insurance company on my resume even though it has nothing to do with flying? Basically the order of my resume is Objective, Education, Ratings and Certificates, Breakdown of hours, and work history. Thanks for any input.

Check this out. The author is a pretty cool guy. He knows what he is talking about.

I would not put objectives - too many people screen objectives which confuses the hell out of me as it means nothing.

If you want to send me a copy of your resume, I will look over it.

Your friendly recruiter,

Gotta agree with Iian on that one. What's your objective? Um, to get a job. Objectives are pretty outdated. I'd recommend putting any non-flying jobs on your resume that you feel would help show non-flying skills that are related to the pilot position. For example, my CFI resume has my Disney/Universal/Sea World trainer positions on there. It's previous experience teaching people to do things they've never done before and with an emphasis on safety. If you've got anything that involves team building or regular ole teamwork, that's a great example of CRM......
