my take on all this. . .
I only know one controller personally, he works at ZTL, and he likes his job Never said EVERYONE hates their job and I'm glad he likes working in the mold and asbestos j/k. eek:SHOCKER!!) Is he the only one? To say there are no "positives" about the job FAA does not equal controlling traffic there are positives about the job NOT the FAA, well you're either retarded or just a spoiled brat.
Okay look, WE GET IT, the union/pay stuff is frustrating and discouraging. No one denies that. It's especially difficult for those living in high-cost-of-living areas. But, someone on here said>> "Come back when you have some basis for your positivity about the FAA." To which I reply: what a snotty, ignorant thing to say.
I seriously don't understand why some people get so militant Not militant just realistic (and you stole my colour font) towards anyone that says nice things about the job. No one wants to work with people like you. Actually I'm a surprisingly nice/depentable person to work with. I don't exactly talk about the stuff I type on this forum outside of here. They want to work with people who have a positive attitude despite the frustrating circumstances. anic:
As far as the guy and his daughter on the board-- what your parents do for a living does not make you an expert on the subject. No, but it gives pretty good insight into it. My dad did the same job my whole life, and still today I know very little about his job I'm betting you didn't go to work with him twice a month, go to school for what he did, and intern in the same profession and this in no way makes me an EXPERT and that is not what I'm selling my OPINION as. He also never came home and complained about it, even though today I know he's always hated it Doubt his job was equivalent to that of being a controller, it's not exactly your everyday job-- I simply never knew.
To all of you WHINNING about the negativity, no one is forcing you to read any of this. You ask for advice, but you don't want honesty you want to be told what you want to hear, you want to be coddled. If you can't stand someone else's view point on things go watch the news and listen to people like Ian Gregor and Laura Brown, they'll give you the image of the FAA that you're looking for.
