Hi-Tec Systems, Inc. Indianapolis, Indiana:
Hi Tec Systems, Inc. is looking for a motivated, computer-savvy individual to work as Remote Pilot Operator. No aviation experience required, but it is helpful. The RPO operates a combination of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)/keyboard/Voice Communication System (VCS) to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. RPOs receive voice commands from student ATCS’s, input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
Unless already certified as an RPO, each candidate must complete knowledge and skills tests for each sector to be supported. Each knowledge test will be developed and graded by an FAA designee and must be passed with a score of at least 70%. Upon completion of the knowledge tests, the RPO Trainee will begin training for the skills tests. Candidates will be required to complete the following classroom certifications: En Route: Classroom, Stage II or Terminal: Classroom, Stage II, III, IV, and V.

The RPO Trainee must observe a certified RPO, an FAA employee, or contractor instructor performing RPO duties on a minimum of 5 simulation scenarios. The intent of this is to acquaint the RPO Trainee with good operating techniques and proper strip marking/remote script procedures. The RPO Trainee will receive on the job training on at least 5 but not more than 20 simulation scenarios on each control position to be supported, and will be evaluated for performance before becoming eligible for certification.
Work location is Indianapolis Air Traffic Control Center (ZID). This ARTCC, often referred to as “Indy Center”, is one of 21 en-route centers that operate under the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), and one of the eight centers that make up the Central En route and Oceanic Service Area.
