What does a Regional Chief Pilot do for Allegiant?
The Regional Chief Pilot is responsible to the System Chief Pilot for the oversight of the daily operation with regard to pilots.
What are some of the daily duties of a Regional Chief Pilot?
• Represents the interests of pilots to the System Chief Pilot, Vice President of Flight Operations and Senior Management
• Promotes safety, efficiency and courteous, professional service by Flight Deck Crewmembers
• Advises the System Chief Pilot on the status of Pilots and Pilot issues
• Aids in communication and implementation of revised Company or Fleet specific procedures
• Conducts interviews and assists in the hiring of Allegiant Air pilots
• Responds to support the System Chief Pilot as required by the Emergency Procedures Manual
• Provide assistance and oversight to the Duty Pilot program as assigned by Flight Operations Management
• Calculates, audits and reviews reports of monthly Pilot payroll for the System Chief Pilot
• Works with the Crew Planning Department to ensure proper Pilot to satisfy the scheduled block hours
• Maintains proficiency as a Flight Deck Crewmember on assigned Fleet Type
• Provides oversight and assistance to the Charter Operations Department in relation to the organization and planning of Charter Flights
• Other duties and responsibilities as may be properly assigned
What are the minimum requirements to be a Regional Chief Pilot?
• Education requirements – High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’ degree preferred.
• Work Experience - To serve a Regional Chief Pilot of Allegiant Air, a pilot must hold an airline transport pilot certificate with the appropriate ratings for the airplane operated by Allegiant. Previously held Allegiant positions should include: Line Pilot up to and including Flight Operations Manager (FOM).
What other skills, knowledge, and qualifications are needed to be a Regional Chief Pilot?
• Working knowledge of applicable FAR regulations and Type of Aircraft Being Operated
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Must pass a background check and five (5) year pre-employment drug screen
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986
What are the physical requirements of a Regional Chief Pilot (if applicable)
• Commensurate with duties assigned as outlined in the “Essential Functions” section above.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required.
