Recruiter question

So I've been trying to contact my air force recruiter to schedule a meeting. I'd like to review my officer packet with him. I've tried calling (he never answers), I've tried emailing him (he never replies), and I've even tried to catch him at the office (it's always locked up and closed). What do I need to do to get this guys attention?

My real question is; has anyone dealt with a situation like this with their officer recruiters?

Thanks

Wait around till he shows up. Its your career, not his, so make him work for you. When ever you deal with recruiting issues, think of it as a test of your abilities to get answers and overcome obstacles. It can become fun in a strange way.

That is what I would do first, my tactics would get bolder if that did not work out.

For AD, Guard or Reserve?

Best way to get a recruiters attention is making yourself highly selectable. My recruiter blew me off at first and was real lazy about getting things done until I did well on the AFOQT and TBAS, after that she rushed to get my package in (so to speak).

Wow, this sounds so weird to me. Usually military recruiters are stalking you to get you to join.

From someone with the same experience- find another recruiter. If the current one isn't willing to work with you, you can find someone who will.. even if you have to drive a little ways to find them.

The AF has been crushed by the sequestering. For him, maybe cut backs have caused him to reduce his hours, workload, etc etc since there might just not be any positions available. The reserves here in FL has closed all vacancies until mid-May.

There are several factors that might be a reason why he isn't in contact with you but like stated before- overcome them. If you want to be an officer, you gotta take responsibility on your own career... if he isn't willing to work with you, find someone who will.

Generally not for officer programs, and especially not for pilot/aviation slots. I'd say it is somewhat comparable to applying for a graduate program at a good school, at least as a rough generality. There is a PR type of recruiting effort (as in commercials, airshows, professional job fairs, etc), but they certainly don't need you, and there is pretty stiff competition to get in the door.

I have a meeting with a recruiter today, that I have been trying to get for about 2 months now. I just gave up trying and scheduled an interview with an airline... then I got the call from the recruiter. hah

It's the principle of supply and demand. If they aren't meeting their goal and they are in danger of losing their job because of it, they will be on you like glue. If they are meeting their goal, then they are off fishing and playing golf.

Do yourself a favor. Talk to a Marine OSO. Unless of course you don't like getting tail.

Marine OSO's and staff have always been the best recruiters I have ever worked with. If you are on point they will work things to you advantage. Of course they are still recruiters, but a lot more relies on the potential applicant than a qouta.

The Marine OSO was definitely the most helpful recruiting office I dealt with. I talked with Army, Marines, and AF before going with the Army WOFT program. I had to shop around for an Army recruiter to find one who would work with me. The AF guys basically told me that unless I wanted to enlist they weren't interested.

No matter who you're dealing with, if they aren't willing to do their jobs and get your competitive packet in, find a better recruiter.
