Presently reading Richard Whittle's "The Dream Machine: The untold story of the notorious V-22 Osprey".
There is a lot of tiltrotor history thrown in there for backstory.
Whittle has put together a startlingly fluid and interesting narrative given the bureaucratic turf-wars that went on through more than 20 years and several billion dollars worth of development.
I've always been fascinated with the V-22, and getting to sit in the cockpit of one and walk through it piqued my interest further.
Highly recommend it if you're interested in the aircraft, how companies solve engineering problems and the methods (and egos) that go into. Also worth reading if you have an interest in defense procurement. Frankly, also worth reading if you're in sales; there is a lot of salient advice there.
Altogether a good read. Recommend you check it out.
