Recommended IOS app for flight Logbook

Hello People

I’m curious what would be a good app to use as an electronic Logbook? I use an Excel that I made several years agoand paper backup, but I’m interested in opinions and suggestions.

thanks in advance

MyFlightBook has become very popular in recent years. It's free but high quality with good personal download and backup options. Like many of the others, it also has the ability to accept instructor signatures and endorsements, I've been using it since before I went cold turkey and dropped paper logging several years ago (Except for instruction received from those who still feel weird about it). It's also system-neutral iOS, Android, web-based. All are covered.

A number of EFBs have integrated logbooks. They work well and many use them, but I personally don't like the idea of feeling tied to an EFB.

Then, since we are here in a professional pilot forum, there are going to be pro-preferred options, like the big Jepp paper logbook was for decades. Some else will probably be along shortly.

Another here for MyFlightbook. Warms my heart to see other recommending the same. It’s pretty good at parsing for airline applications. It can print in many different formats.

There were times when I said “Ok, I’m going to get Logten Pro TODAY” and then I would go to the site/App Store and could never bring myself to do it.

I don’t think MyFlightbook has any specific capability for checking your Part 117 compliance.

Can myflightbook export to logtenpro? I've been using a spreadsheet but I still have to go in from my pay stub and type in the in and out times because LTP doesn't import them properly. Wastes a lot of time.

I know it isn't cheap, and subscription models suck (its the way everything is going so oh well) but I have been a long time LogTen Pro user and have been very happy. I have foreflight too so I use that as a second backup source, and I have played around a bit with MyFlightBook, and it is very good for a free logbook. I have used Zululog in the past and also really liked that. My first electronic logbook was Safelog and it was terrible. So take all that for what its worth but as an airline pilot who also flies GA and instructs, LogTen really covers me and the ability to track currency helps a lot.

One of the things I love the most about LogTen Pro is that having a Mac app, as well as iOS apps, I can enter a flight on one device, it automatically updates on the other devices, and backs up to iCloud.

LogTen Pro is the gold standard, tons of functionality (most that I don't use) and you can import your schedule directly into it. Been a long time user and quite happy with it.

Sounds like he already did that (I've had something like that since DOS) and is looking for something fully compliant with current guidelines, mostly having to do with authentication.

Uhhh, where do you get that out of his post? All he asked about was a replacement for Excel. Google sheets is perfect for that.

Google sheets is free, it is cross platform, it's easy to use, and infinitely customizable. Mine even spits out my currency for me.

Logten Pro is really nice, there are other nice electronic logbook software packages out there too, but why pay Coradine $80/year so that I can have a glorified spreadsheet? Further, how long is the product going to last? Google will likely be around another 3 decades for me to get to 65, is Coradine software going to make it that long? Or anybody else?

Google sheets is platform independent, fast, works on your phone, and did I mention... it's free? What more could you want?

I just started using Logten Pro. Fairly satisfied with it but haven’t taken the time to figure out all the currency tracking. It is a bit pricey though. Most painful part was inputting 17 years worth of paper logs.

How hard would it be to import an Excel sheet logbook (formatted like the Jepp pro paper logbook) to one of these electronic logbooks? And which logbook would you choose? PC user with iPad and iPhone.

It took my some massagingto get it to import into ForeFlight correctly. Probably 2-3 hours.

because he wants to move away from a simple spreadsheet. And he can certainly use his Excel spreadsheet online or in iOS as easily as Sheets.

myFlightbook is free too. There is a donation ware option, but the only thing it adds is automatic daily data uploads into DropBox.

And if you are looking for longevity, nothing is forever. But it turns out I've been using it for 13 years. Only 17 accounts older than mine.

Dunno. don't think so. But why don't I ask the developer and let you know.

I went from Excel to APDL/Logbook Pro. I don't use it to log flights to be honest. I use it strictly a 117 compliance app with the benefit of logging of my flights twice a year when it's time to get my medical renewed.

The app downloads my schedule every month and as I fly - it automatically fills in my aircraft tail number and OOOI times automatically. So the only interaction I have with the app is who did the landing and to indicate if i had to fly an actual instrument approach. Then it exports a CSV and I just import it to my electronic logbook.

So my logbook is only up to date twice a year - just before I go in for my medical.
