Stumbled over this one:

Any pilots here ever encounter something similar? I've done a lot of business air travel and never saw anything like what's reported here.

It is not surprising that something really strange was seen but that they actually talked about it. The way pilots are treated by most everyone when they report strange things soon makes them just keep their mouths shut.

Could have been a balloon or a guy in a wooden chair with a lot of little balloons just for openers.... Would be real hard for ATC to see'em they way they usually have the RADAR set.

You can ask how I know this but I ain't gonna tell ya... ;)

The comments explain it all,

"We see it as well, so you're not crazy."

...

"We thought we may have gone a bit mad."

In a profession where medical and especially mental health are so important, are you REALLY going to broadcast all over the radio about the little green men you think you're spying on??

You could end up on youtube! ;)

Back in my F-117 days, I worked with a guy that flew the planes back in '95. One night, he was airborne over west TX when he got a call from ZAB concerning a UFO that an America West 757 was tracking over West TX and into NM, on their way to LAS. ZAB gave him some vectors to intercept into the area, but he never really picked up anything. There was a long conversation between ZAB and the Cactus crew over this object that below them and above the overcast..reportedly over 300 feet long and with strobes on it. Never found out what it was.

During those days of mine, I had my share of weird things I couldn't ID myself.

Hey Mike, it's great to see you posting again.

There IS a lot of strange looking stuff out there. I've seen some damn odd patterns of lights and what not, especially while flying along I10 between Phoenix and Yuma. However, I never for one second thought I was looking at something flown by little green men.

Thanks partner, good to be back! Used to fly that route back in my cargo days in the early '90s.....through Mohawk pass into Yuma. Bordering the northern edge of the Barry Goldwater Bombing Range, you'll see all sorts of strange stuff. For example, it jets are working under NVGs, they might drop LUU-19 covert parachute illumination flares. Being covert, these flares provide a great amount of light under NVGs, but to the naked eye, they just look like small red orbs hovering for about 5 mins. These are the covert version of the LUU-2 overt illum flares, which you can readily see with the 1 million candlepower as they descend in their chutes.
