EDIT: I take it back, this might actually be for real. I found some more video's of this guy. Is this stuff actually for real? It does not look physically possible!

-------------

I dunno man. I know RC copters can do some really crazy stuff, like the whole hover upside down thing...but this looks a little extream. While I think some of the things that the thing did are possible, I'm gonna call BS and say that it's fake.

Cheers

I flew R/C for 14 years... This is real... That copter is probably about a $4,000 machine... This is the big R/C Flying competition in Las Vegas, the best of the best turn out...

If you wanna see some other cool R/C Flying, check out this site and watch some of the videos... http://www.downonthedeck.com/

Guys, this stuff is for real. I fly RC helicopters myself, only basic aerobatics but I can tell you stuff like this is posssible. What I find amazing about Alan Szabo Jr.'s flying (he's pretty well known in RC helos) is how low to the ground he gets, crazy stuff.

I've heard that the rotor blades change pitch to do whatever you want...can you say UAV applications?!

hey falcon are you still into the rc thing.. im pretty big into it right now. every spare dime i have from flight training goes to my model flying... you know now that i think about it.. you cant imagine how much into debt im in because of the wright brothers...lol

Yep, the rotor blades are kept at a constant RPM (usually around 1600-1800rpm) . To make the helicopter go up or down, you change the pitch. Negitive pitch allows for inverted flight as seen in the video. To the helicopter, going backwards is no different except the tail likes to windvail so that the nose is forward again. However RC helicopters have heading hold gyros that keep the tail where you last put it.

Thats insane.. Gets me sick watching that..

I wonder how many times he has crashed perfecting those moves....

If you keep liquidating like this we're going to start wondering what plans you've got up your sleeve.....

Then I guess I shouldn't tell you about the $1,000 worth of 2-way radio equipment I sold in Jan/Feb...

I knew it!

2 year sabbatical and fly the family around-the-world in a Super Cub, right?
smile.gif

Or a South Pacific island and pick lint out of your belly button and solve the world's problems?

The video doesn't even show the half of what some RC helicopters can do. A buddy has a turbine engine powering his copter.

Totally real.

MikeD, Copa and I knew a guy (Marcos!) that flew RC helicopters who was purely sick what he could do with that thing.

I'm thinking you could buy new stuff at retail price (or just over), then sell it on-line for 1/2 - 3/4 the typical wholesale rate. After a few months of doing that you should be qualified to run an airline. Six months later you're golden parachute bound for the South Pacific gig, methinks.
