R2F\'s Seven (not so) Deadly Spins
So....now I've got my spin endorsement!
All I gotta say is - HOTDIGGITYDAMN that was COOL!!!
Took the C150 and with my CFI (150 lbs), me (220 lbs.), full fuel, and a late June day, we had a whoppin 300-400 fpm climb rate.
Flew south along the coast to the mouth of Tampa Bay just into the Gulf and commenced a 10-15 minute climb up to 5000'.
First on the agenda was Power-Off spin to the left.
I was NOT ready for THAT!!!
That sumbiotch nosed over FAST (not like a 172) and all I saw was COLORS - spinning, spinning colors!
My instructor QUICKLY brought me back to reality with "Close Throttle. Opposite rudder. Forward pressure." VERY calmly.
I followed his instructions and VIOLA! We came out of it....after about 2.5 rotations!
Climbed back up to 5000' and did another one to the left. This time, I focused and REALLY enjoyed the scenery.
I did the talking this time and just calmly said "Power back. Opposite rudder. Forward pressure."
CHILDS PLAY!
Did three more to the right - all power off and then the last one, we did a power-on to the right.
My CFI asked if he could do one himself and I obliged and just enjoyed the ride.
I'm tellin' you folks - when/if you do spin training - DO MORE THAN ONE! After that first one, I was in no shape, form, or fashion acclumated to .... anything!!
We did seven in all and after about number 2 or 3, I actually began to feel somewhat "comfortable" with them.
I dug it! Hopefully, you will too!!
