Question for those with the Bose Headset

I've had the Bose for about a month now, and I've noticed that on the takeoff roll when there is a lot of engine noise, the sound sort of cuts out, and gets muffled. The only time this happens is on the takeoff roll. Any ideas? I'm thinking about sending it back, but am trying to figure out if its a problem with the aircraft.

Does this happen in every aircraft on T\O or is it just one particular one? Also is it the ANR kicking on and off? I've had my Bose for about 4 months, last month i had an issue with the ANR, it would go on\off for a few seconds, but in that time i couldn't hear ATC, so i contacted Bose and they sent me a brand new headset, no issues since. If its happening in only one airplane, it may just be the power on the aircraft and not the headset.

It's in every aircraft. I'm not sure if its the ANR kicking off, but I can't hear myself saying words while its happening, or hear any transmissions. It goes away when I set climb power, or sometimes before that.. It's starting to bother me.

I've had mine over a year now and the only time I have the problem you're talking about is when my cellphone is left on in my pocket.

I think its the ANR trying to "catch up" to the increase/change in sound. Since ANR sort of listens to the outside noise, then sends a signal (opposite wavelength) into the earcup to quiet it If the sound changes or increses in intensity, the ANR takes a second to counteract it.

Sounds like the same issue i had, except mine would randomly happen in cruise, i would call Bose and let them know, they sent me a brand new set, you said you've only had them for a month, no reason why they won't do the same for you

Same problem here. It happened many times in different planes the first few weeks I had them. I replaced the batteries and it went away, but these past few days it has happened a few times again, but not nearly as much as it used to.

But yea, its like a muffle sound and you cant hear any transmissions, including your own.

Just an update. I received a letter today from Bose saying that the newest batch of headsets has an intermittent cut out problem. If anyone has a newer Bose X and your having this problem, call them and let them know!

Not sure if you are having the same problem, but make sure your battery pack is secure and not able to move around. If allowed to move around then the sound cuts out and you get a rumbling noise and all other sound, including ATC will cut out.

I have had my headset for about 6 months or so and i am having the same problem, I have been meaning to start a tread about it. Looks like i need to call bose tomorrow, Thanks for all the help.

I also own a Bose and have experienced the same problem. However, I have noticed that mine cuts out when it is subject to vibration. I.e. the battery pack is jammed between the my leg and the side of the cockpit. If i remove it from the area it goes away immediately. Makes sense the vibration would cause a malfunction with the operation of the device. Anyone else found the same thing to be true?

I always keep my battery pack between the door and my leg. I don't think it was due to vibration but I had the same cut out of the ANR problem. It would warble back and forth from left to right and back again. I was getting ready to send it back and then it stopped doing it. Hasn't done it for over 6 months now. I've barely had it a year.
