Question for Express Jet Pilots

Hey guys, I know there is a boat load of pilots from express jet here, and on Thursday I am flying out to Houston for a Flight Internship interview. They just said to know some general information about the company. Anything you guys have to add about the airline will greatly appreciated. Its gonna be a long day flying out of MCO at 630am and getting back in at like 1030 including driving time back and forth to daytona should make for a lond day. But if we finish early we can try and get a earlier flight.

Oh and have anyone heard of an intern getting hired with the internal minimums lately, i think its 500/100. I heard that expressjet increased the off the street minimums from 600/100 to 1000/200.

Thanks again
Adam

The best advice I can give you is "Have a good attitude!!" Attitude is a very big thing at this company. Don't be cocky and don't be a know it all. Smile and just be happy.

Plus go the the XJT website and you will pretty much find what you need (information wise). Current Fleet, Recent press releases, Investor Relations Info, Annual Reports, Current Officers, etc...

...and from what I've heard... yes, the internal mins have applied to Interns (in the past anyway).

Hope that helps & good luck!

It might be a good idea to study the gouge on aviationinterviews.com a bit. Also, mins are still 600/100 according to HR from a few weeks ago. However, competative mins are 1000/200+.

Enjoy the interview!

There was one guy in my class who got hired as an FO with 500 and 100 multi. He was a transfer from the maintenance department, so it is possible to get in that way. Hope this helps.

cool thanks guys. I have a buddy interning in EWR and he says its awesome. He just got back from houston where he went through the systems ground school.
thanks again

Well got back last night from the interview in Houston and what an experience.

Supppose to get on the 630am flight from mco to iah, only half the interns got on that flight and i didn't. all the flight direct to houston were over booked so they flew us to clevland then to iah. got to iah at 3pm local time had i got on the first flight i would have gotten in at 8am. needless to say that was an experience in itself. got into iah and went over to expressets training facility. Took a tour of the faciality got to hear all the flight attendants screaming in the cabin trainer which was pretty funny.

The interview was pretty informal. Just twenty minutes along with another interviewee. The interview seemed to go pretty well and i should find out next week if i get it. I put my preference down for EWR chief pilot office. My buddy is doing that right now.

Overall i was extrememly impressed with express jet and continental. I was pretty suprised to actually get a sandwich on both flight. I usually fly delta and never get anything like that. All the interns and people at IAH seemed to love it there. Even if i don't get the internship I would still love to work for this company. Oh and they said they are looking at hiring 600 pilots this year, not sure how true it is but if the have people leave for CAL it could happen.

XJT is a great company, and like SWA, I didn't want to leave. I was just tired of spinning my wheels on the ramp instead of training for what I really want to do. Sounds like you got the standard as far as non-revving out of MCO goes.

I got stuck at MSY for over 8 hours a couple of weeks ago, and I was just trying to get to DAL.

yea goin through that makes you wonder how people commute. but there is always the option of jumpseating if that is available. but overall i was extremely impressed with expressjet.

Yeah, I'm finding that the DAL/DFW-IAH flights are almost always booked, with plenty of company folks trying to get to and fro as well. Who would have tought that it would be easier to commute to EWR?

The guys are right- I had a couple of interns in my systems class, and they were allowed the lower mins.

So far so good with XJet. I'm in IOE now, and I have to say it's better than anything I've expected. Best of luck to you.
