Question, Career-wise.

Sooo I'm planning to go off to college next year...and my main major in mind is flight science, or professional pilot, whatever it may be called.

However, I am also planning to double major or minor in Spanish and English or creative writing; this is to ensure that I have something on which to "fall back" should the industry not be hiring.

Ultimately, I would love to write for an aviation or travel publication, while flying for the big leagues.

Now, I need input from the people who know more than I do. Is this feasible, to write and fly at the same time, or would I have any time to write with the amount of flying??

Thanks so much!!

There is a certain pilot that finds time to write for a certain aviation magazine and he works "for the big leagues"

I remember at least one of the writers for Flying mag being a legacy airline pilot. Definitely possible imo.

More than plausible. It will require a lot of hard work, but there are quite a few pilots that are professional writers.

hmmm journalism and aviation, quite possibly two of the lowest paying and most unstable careers you could choose!

(id lean toward journalism though, more likely to find a job!)

Sounds cheesy, but you can do anything you set you're mind to. If you really want to fly and write, you'll find a way to make it happen.

Really? I've been hearing the journalism is one of the toughest jobs to get into now because almost every newspaper or magazine is going broke.

BTW, Peter Garrison makes complex aerodynamics child's play, because he's really a journalist.
