Question/Advice!

Hi Everyone!

I thought I post this question here, and see if any of you guys can help me and tell me what you think. I’ve heard a lot of great things about ATP, and I am really considering about entering the program. I’m currently a junior at UND, and I have my PPL. I am thinking about switching my major to Air Traffic Control, since UND only requires you to complete your PPL for graduation. I was thinking about getting a 4-year degree with a B.S. in ATC from UND, and then go to ATP for the rest of my flight training. Or, take a semester off from school and go through the ATP program. Now, I now ATP requires at least 2 years of college, but does that mean I need a degree from a 2-year college?

What would you guys recommend? Any thoughts? Thanks!

The two year requirement (or equiv. experiance) is a flexible requirement. ATP is a pretty intensive program, so they want people who will be able to handle the study work on their own... You have the two years anyway, so don't worry about it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The degree is indeed a flexible requirement. Keep in mind that if you took a semester off to attend ATP, and you took out a loan, that the loan repayments could start before you graduate college.

Righto.. It is never a bad idea to just to finish and get your degree behind you, especially if you are looking into instructing full time. Hopefully ATP won't raise their price too much by then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif

You can always defer the loan payment until you are done with school.

Still gotta pay interest on them, and interest is pricey with those big loans. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
