Do any current ATC professionals what the standard is in terms of punishment for operational errors or “deals”. I know the standards for them such as 1,000 feet of vertical separation but was wondering just how often they occur, how they are classified and what the disciplinary action can be. I assume they occur more often recently with the heavy air traffic and understaffing, but for example is an ATC professional still punished the same way if the “deal” occurred when his shift was understaffed? Also does it depend on the severity of the accident? I know there are five categories they are classified as ranging form minor to severe.
