Q400 growth

From United.com:

IAD-PVD, SYR, ALB, BTV, ORF starting June 2011 on the Q400.

So where are we reducing from?

Two things that came to my attention when I checked on a fare from for a round trip from IAD - SYR - IAD.

1. the price was listed as $1160.00!!!! no wonder the q is making money. This was for a tues - thurs trip at the end of june.
2. It comes up as Colgan Doing Business as United express. If you look up a fare for tomorrow, for example, it says colgan are DBA co connection...

That's strange because it's hard for the company to keep ontime performance good when the planes are spread out so thin. CAL originally only wanted 6 q's in IAH. Colgan told them at least nine to keep a spare and for reliability. Unless they are getting planes from somewhere else, these have to be coming from EWR. Even if they added 5 new planes, we don't have the manpower trained now to start by June. Mesaba can't train them because they do not have that aircraft type on their certificate. Mesaba pilots maybe, but it would be the Colgan training department if these were for new planes. Interesting. There are quite a few Q400 pilots in EWR that live in the IAD area.

Oh god please no. I don't like EWR much on my nicest days, but I still pretty much hate IAD almost as much as HPN. Nice to drop in on one leg every now and then though and see all the mighty Saabs and peeps.

IAD-PIT as well.

So I just looked up SAT, TUL and DAL out of IAH. None of them come up as Q400 flights in June. In fact SAT shows as a mainline flight.

You hate IAD? Ever try being based out of Chicago? It makes Dulles look like a well run operation!

looks like the reductions are from Moncton, Ottowa, Halifax, and DCA. I'm not too familiar with the Q destinations, but those are not listed on UAL or CAL's websites as Q cities anymore. I also saw CLE-DCA added as well

Nope y'all still going to dca. Have fun with the 30 min connection deadhead from terminal a

Ahh so we're dropping our best Canadian overnights. How swell. I'd gladly trade them Toronto, Montreal, and Rochester to keep those.
