Pushing a CRJ

Minuteman

“Dongola”
Got this story from a.net. Apparently, the jet "conked out" after landing (fuel exhaustion? single-engine taxi done twice? :) )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's generally not a good idea to push one of these around using the trailing edge flaps, yeah? At least I haven't seen that technique in the Aircraft Recovery Manual.

In China, it is customary for people to partake in a brief, fitness-type of activity in order to loosen up the muscles and be in good spirit to carry out the rest of the day. In this case, tugs have been banned from ALL Chinese airports and the activity for airport personnel and passengers is to push aircraft to and from the gate.

Great....I can see it now: Alert Bulletin 217 will be "Flight Crews are urged to utilize zero-engine taxi wherever possible to assist in cost control...."
