Pubnat 8 GEO's OUT! Post your states!

Its a tough decision, the states I want are MA and RI but I hear they don't need people. I thinking about picking CA and NY.

I, too, am torn on what states to put. I have ones that I'd rather work in, but I'm looking at the page right now where you select your two states, and there isn't an option for "Anywhere" or "Throughout" or "I don't give a rat's ass...just please let me in" option.

Any rumors on places that are in Need?

You can call the ATM's for the facilities you're interested in and ask what their hiring numbers are for the upcoming Fiscal year or two. Sometimes they know and it helps. Sometimes they know, but the numbers change somewhere down the line. Sometimes they don't know the numbers, but just know that they are hiring. What also helps is to schedule a tour of the facility and meet the ATM. That goes longer of a way than "hey, I want to work for you sooo bad!"

Also, if I were applying for a job in which there are thousands of applicants and only hundreds of slots, I wouldn't be asking other applicants for career changing information. I'D be telling you NOT to apply to state x and state y due to the numbers when knowing damned well they are hiring! hello, wake up, do some research, network, get your name out there!

Unbelievable. I just got that email a couple hours ago after I got off of work. This is great news.

I was so excited when I saw the email on my Blackberry!!! I picked CA and NY but in the box where they let you comment I put that i was willing to work ANYWHERE. lol Whooooo!!!!!!!!!

Wow I forgot I even applied to this announcement.. It's been like over a year or so haha. I don't even want to do this anymore. I think I'll put Alaska and some other random state for giggles.

I wanted to put MA and RI too because I live in RI right now. But I chose CA, and TX and gave a few counties over there, most notably the big city counties. I know If I chose RI I be dead in the water if they're not hiring because they only have one facility in the state. I rather have numerous options in CA and TX, and like a previous poster said, I wish they had a I don't give a Rat's ass where I work just give me the job option.

I hope we were allowed to write in the comments section as many counties/territories we wanted to work in because I picked around 8 or so between the two states. It said to list counties not a county/territory for large states.

So now that we've selected our Geo Prefs, usually how long does it take for us to start the interview, clerances etc?

another year I would guess... just a guess though, and of course that all seems to depend on if you picked the "right" states. This is the MOST messed up part of the application process. I hate how they wont let you honestly say you will go anywhere.

Does this email go out to everyone who applied, or only to those who have made the referral list?

I doubt everyone that applied will get the email. People that have timed out for instance won't. I do know of someone that got their geo pref email for pub 7 and didn't get on the referral list back in April but instead got the notification that they weren't selected.

Now I don't know which states to pick... Im leaning toward OH, CO, and LA

The geographic preferences generate the referral list. The email goes out to everyone who passed the AT-SAT (both WQ and Q) and didn't remove themselves from the process between then and now.

I don't know whether the system will automatically remove those who time out or not.
