Hey everybody, just trying to get started with my dispatch career. Went through the interview process with PSA and was notified that I was being placed into a hiring pool. Anybody have any experience with this or know how long this can last?

unsure about the hiring process now, couldn't tell you how long. There's good and bad things about PSA. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Being hired into a pool usually means your waiting on assignment of a class date. I'm not sure how long your pool status might last. G'luck.

Thanks for the laugh. The notion that they have a "hiring pool" as if people are beating down the door to get in there is truly laughable. Run, don't walk the other way. If you're curious, here's a sneak peek into their OCC:

If people were beating down their door, PSA wouldn't have a dispatcher listing open CONTINUOUSLY...

I spoke too soon; for the first time since I joined here, PSA does NOT have a dispatcher opening listed! I never thought I'd see the day, because they had what seemed to be a permanent opening on their website...

The DX Manager at PSA just left/quit. As of two weeks ago there was no replacement annouced. Also, they are going thru other staffing issues.
The problem is not isolated to the OCC. The entire company has issues from the top down. Constant flux at all levels. Not fun.
So it could be they are holding off on hiring new dxers until they embedd the new Manager.

How's daddy Harks gonna get his fix. Time for someone else to dust off the old knee pads. If they aren't quitting, they're dying.

LOL...best line this year.

PM me and I am happy to let you know current, accurate information on how many I know we are planning to hire in the near future an what it means to be in pool here currently.
C'mon Rincoln, we know you dont have a clue as to what will actually happen next. Only Big Daddy H, holds the cards and you aint gonna get to see'um until he's ready to show'em.
PM me and I can share with you from 3 internals what they say is gonna happen.. (hint...3 different stories!) They will hire eventually. So if you like Vandalia, then hang in there, Dialing For Dollars is trying to reach you....

I asked him to PM to avoid pointless conversations like this one.
Please bash away or praise away. I don't care either way.
I just wanted him to have an option to get his information from a current employee not only former employees. If your 3 current internals want to PM him also that would be great. He would get 4 relevant opinions from people who actually have current information. Please let him know who they are, if they are willing to speak with him, and be helpful to someone new in the business.

That's all i have to say about that.

Your assertion that a current employee has any different information than a former employee is laughable. I mean, I guess the only difference is the former employees were able to recognize how much of a dumpsterfire the place is and left. You on the other hand are too busy being an apologist and think its going to get you somewhere.

The most helpful advice anyone can give to someone new in the business it to stay away from PSA.
