...of crew scheduling. Finished IOE yesterday on a 2 day out of IAH. Did a non precision with procedure turn in mexico, an ils to mins, and a visual approach clearance from 30 out and 8000 ft. pretty intense stuff. I am glad to finally be done with initial training...grueling but oh so worth it.

Outstanding! Congratulations!! It feels good doesn't it?

And... this is "officially" for you! ;)

Welcome to the line!

Great feeling, isn't it! I went to Vegas after my line check. And I was on reserve for a very short time in EWR. :)

so you have a line now van? I got hosed with the bid. I was initially awarded EWR, but today when i called crew sched to find out where my schedule was they said "oh no, you are iah based". so i dont need the crashpad in ewr anymore, and my commute is now 3 times longer. awesome. I guess ill stay in iah for a month and see how i like it, then maybe ill switch somewhere else if i dont.

Thanks for the shirt bob......I am pretty excited about it all. Ive been out of the training center for 2 months....ready to do some line flying.

Well I have a relief line, and if I have the numbers figured right I'm pretty sure I'll have one next month too. My last four days of reserve were almost like being on vacation, with a 24 hour Ottawa overnight followed by a 32 hour Moncton, NB double-overnight.

Once your out on the line, it only gets better as far as being more comfortable in the airplane. Enjoy it!

Yeah, I am psyched to get out there. The way I see it. Its like, when I first soloed I sucked. I got better and better with every flight. Going to be the same way. Not that I suck, but I am just not completely comfortable with every phase and every situation. So, I look forward to really fine tuning my skills. I leave today to head to IAH for 5 days of reserve, then back up to DC for mothers day. I hope I get to fly.

Yea, that's how it went for me. You'll notice improvement on every flight, and it's easier now that the pressure of OE and the line check is over. All the captains I've flown with have been great. The only thing that's tough is keeping your landing proficiency while being on high mins and on reserve. There was a stretch where I hadn't landed the plane all that much and I had a couple interesting landings, but got past it.
