I'm definitely rooting for them. It's a little sad to think what the space program could have been if we had left it in the hands of American engineers instead of turning it over to the germans. We had the best aerospace people in the world, hands down, and we shut them out in favor of Werner and his boys.

Now guys like Rutan can pick up the ball and run. It's been a long time coming.

If it were not for Werner Von Braun there never would have been an American space program. The Mighty Saturn Five was his design and the only launch system with a 100% success rate. The thing that has damaged our space program has been the American Beaurocrat.

Don't forget Robert Goddard.

The Goddard rocket was nearly identical in function to the V-2, and developed 3000 miles away.
