Private Pilot Written Test

I took the King Schools Private Pilot Course and received an endorsement to take the written test. I took the written test in 2004 and passed with a 92%. However, as I understand it, the written test expires after two years.

Thus, I would need to retake the written test.

My question is, can I use the same endorsement certificate given to me by King Schools to retake the exam at a CAT testing center? Mind you, the certificate was issued in 2004.

I'm looking to start flight training. I soloed at 12 hours in 2004 and stopped afterward (due to finances). Now, I'm ready to get back into it!

It sounds strange to me, but you don't need another endorsement according to the FARs:

Section 61.35: Knowledge test: Prerequisites and passing grades.

(a) An applicant for a knowledge test must have:
(1) Received an endorsement, if required by this part, from an authorized instructor certifying that the applicant accomplished the appropriate ground-training or a home-study course required by this part for the certificate or rating sought and is prepared for the knowledge test; and
(2) Proper identification at the time of application that contains the applicant's—
(i) Photograph;
(ii) Signature;
(iii) Date of birth, which shows the applicant meets or will meet the age requirements of this part for the certificate sought before the expiration date of the airman knowledge test report; and
(iv) Actual residential address, if different from the applicant's mailing address.
(b) The Administrator shall specify the minimum passing grade for the knowledge test.

I guess I might want to start putting expiration dates on my knowledge test endorsements.

But won't the first endorsement be only allowable for the first written exam? Forget that he has taken the test and I would agree but since there is already a Pvt Written taken and passed I would come to think that Revolutionist would need a new endorsement. I have to say though that I would not be surprised.

I know that a Part 141 signoff is only good for so long. I guess Part 61 doesn't have those restrictions implied unless the IP places them there...wow.

No, as long as you passed the first test, your expired test results act as authorization to re-take the test. I had the same thing happen to me. The test proctor will take your expired copy, and on completion of the test, you'll only get your new results back.

Now, if you had failed the test the first time, you would need to get additional instruction and another endorsement, as I understand it, stating that you have received the required additional instruction.
