Private - How long did you wait?

Hey everyone,

I'm nearing my private checkride (in probably a month and a half) and I am wondering: How far in advance did you guys schedule the checkride/oral?
 
DPE's are pretty quick. My CFI talked to my DPE about the ride and it was scheduled for exactly one week later.

I was worried because of the CFI thread about wait times, I was worried that I needed to schedule now!

Nope, no need to worry...the initial CFI ride is a completely different animal. The local FSDOs usually want the opportunity to do all initial CFI rides if they have the time. Any other checkride can be scheduled with a DPE...depending on their availability, I've seen DPEs do checkrides on the same day an instructor signs a student off!
 
Yeah, I've been able to get DPE checkrides next day and have seen others do the same. Like others have said, FSDO is completely different.
 
lol i wish i can get a checkride date within a few weeks smh lol i have been waiting 2 months almost 3 months for a ppl checkride date
 
I waited a few days, tops. The longest I ever had to wait was after they started cracking down on full names appearing on licenses, both driving and pilot's licenses. Even then it wasn't longer than 2 weeks.
