PPL issued on a JAA

I can't find it anywhere in the regs, but a student of mine seems to think that there is a duration on his FAA PPL issued in lui of a JAA PPL. I don't see an expiration date on his JAA or on his FAA license. :confused: And now he tells me the FSDO "doesn't know how to proceed?:confused::confused:

Help please.
 
His FAA PPC does not expire, but it is issued with "all limitations on his JAA license", which does have an expiry date. All foreign licenses that I have seen do have an expiration date which must be renewed, so his FAA PPC is also expired until he meets renewal requirements on his JAA.
