PPL forums

Does anyone know of any forums out there that are specifically geared towards people just getting their PPL? I love reading the boards here but since I am just starting my PPL training there isn't much for me to contribute so I'm looking for a place to connect with more beginners...any links you can toss my way?

Thanks!

Oh, I think you will find many here in the same boat as you!

The cool thing about JC is that there is all this experience here to take advantage of. I can't honestly tell you how helpful this place was and still is for me. IMHO, we can gain just as much from you as you can from us. Welcome!!

Come on in - the water is perfect!

Alot of us have been hanging out at JC since we were Private Pilots (or less) too! So, don't be intimidated. There are alot of folks here with knowledge that you can absorb.

Just ask around - alot of CFI's and Airline pilots on here were Private Pilots once, too!!

But... that actually sounds like a good idea for a new section on JC... We've got one for everyone else, but not the student pilots... Doug? What do you think?

good idea.. but I think General Topics is essentially the "starting PPL, wanna have an aviation career" forum. agree/disagree??

Not sure ... the General Forum is more of a hodge podge for everyone and everything.

Example:

The topcis on the first page now range from Flight planning to Living on a Pilots Salary and everything in between like 787 interiors, airports to fly into, etc.

But, the decision to create another forum is above my pay grade, or above my programming abilities as the case may be

I know of a forum ... Jetcareers.com

I joined in Nov. 2002 when I began taking lessons toward my private. This board has tons of student pilots and private pilots you can talk to ... as well as a boat-load of in-house resident CFIs you can ask questions to.

Welcome and enjoy your training!

The general topics forum is just what it's name says it is. It is just like the lavatory forum but all the topics are about aviation. A student pilot forum would be nice for basic stuff . Perhaps, people could post lessons so that we can all discuss.

Sometimes people jump on a n00b a little hard sometimes too, like when they ask a simple question to a CFI but its a valid question to them. I think a student/private pilot forum may be a good idea.

Personally, I think it's overkill. Just putting the messages in another forum probably won't stop people from jumping on prospective pilots any more than they would in General Topics.
