Pouring dirt down my throat!

That's what my throat feels like. I woke up this morning at like 3am, and couldn't swallow because my throat was so dry.

So, I hop up and immediately think to get a drink of water, nothing my throat was still horribly dry, and sore.

I continue trying to swallow and I can feel that it was actually something on back of my throat. Like mucus clinging to it. I cough hard and up chuck some bloody thick phlem.

Been drinking OJ and sprite all day, and eating soup, and anything going down my throat burns.

I know as a doc, you'd have to see me to be sure, but does this sound like maybe the beginning of strep?

I certainly hope not!

also, OJ and Sprite both have acid in them which will not feel good to swallow. Stick with water - and drink LOTS of it!

There is a lot of strep in Phoenix right now. If youa re not better, go to the Urgent Care tomorrow or come see me on Monday.

Alright folks.

This is in RE: to the deleted posts.

Listen up. Dr. Forred is here to help answer your medical questions, voluntarily.

The non-sequitur posts may seem hilarious to you, but I'd hate for The Doc to start thinking that participation on JC is a waste of time.

Keep it on-topic.

I had the same feeling in late October. It feels like when you have a "stuffy" nose but on the throat. I bought some pills called Mucinex from CVS and it helped relieve it. I also took vitamin C on a daily basis as well as had numerous cough drops. The feeling went away after 3-4 days.

No, not yet, just feeling really lethargic...but my friend said he started out with the same symptom, and now it is full blown strep!

:(

Max, that is the indicator to me that I have strep, the deep fatigue is often more of an indicator than the sore throat. I would self-diagnose myself correctly every time I got it. Of course, I would then run down to my husband's office and get a throat culture to confirm it, but I was always spot on with my diagnosis because of the lethargy.

I drank tonnes of OJ and sprite, and my throat feels much better as of today. Still lethargic, and coughing up green thick chewable phlem though, and the glands in my neck are still tender to the touch.

But no worse for wear, and I didn't miss any days of work, yay!
