Possession of Complex/High-Perf. Endorsments

According to CFR 14 61.31, it doesn't seem like one needs to have their complex/high-perf. endorsements with them when acting as PIC of such aircraft. Is this true? The reason I ask is that my complex endorsement is in my old logbook, which I would like to store at home. Any advice?

If my assertion is correct, I might xerox the endorsement and put it in my new logbook (even though the flight and ground training is logged in my old one).

i photocopied my high alt endorsement, laminated it and i hang it on the wet compass and brief the captain on it before each flight. he says something about me not being PIC, but whatever.

seriously though, you do not need to carry it, just like you do not need to carry around your logbook to prove you've had a flight review or IPC recently. If you get ramp checked and the inspector cares that much, he'll make an appointment to examine your logbook (because you dont have to carry it with you, so he cant look at it right there).

Only student pilots soloing need to carry a logbook w/ endorsements. Once you get your cerificate keep that thing at home.

Right. The only things a private (or higher) pilot needs to carry around as far as the FAA is concerned are the pilot certificate, the medical certificate, and a photo ID.

To be technical, not quire. Recreational and sport pilots also have logbook-carrying requirements (and a student pilot only needs to carry it on cross countries, but that's being hyper-technical).
