Plus One Flyers - KMYF

Has anyone else here had any experience with Plus One Flyers flying club at Montgomery Field in San Diego? I'd like to join this club to save money on getting my CFI. It'll save me a lot of money. One of my friends recommended them.

As a flying club, I like it a lot. Nothing like having a key to all the airplanes without having to stop at the desk to check out the key. They give you a key when you sign up. You just book and go 24hrs/day. As long as you have the money, get a checkout in the airplane (and have the appropriate ratings) you can fly anything they have.

You're on your own finding an instructor. If I remember correctly your instructor will have to be a member of Plus One Flyers as well. Find one that works well for you and go with him/her.

No more ATP?? I've heard the San Diego FSDO is pretty tough on CFI applicants.

Not sure yet on it. Still looking at options (looking at cost and not having to take time off from work). Haven't ruled out ATP yet. If I happen to do ATP this summer, you still want to join me?

I think I may have misunderstood, but ATP hasn't been in San Diego for quite some time...foolishly.

Plus One is probably the best club on the field at MYF in terms of aircraft variety, though their membership fees are also the highest. I belonged to Sorbi (dunno if they're still in operation, but stay away if they are), then Consair (good rates, limited fleet).

The San Diego FSDO is pretty tough on everybody; there's one inspector who has a penchant for busting people moving aircraft around *by hand* without their nav lights on at night.

Hi Aloft... Jason and I were talking about going to ATP in Vegas.. I'm still game!

And I have heard similar stories about the FSDO in San Diego, they are extremely rough if you train Part 61 especially.

Plus One's membership fees are the highest? It's $29.50 per month for membership dues. Cessna 152 for $57-62 wet.

Consair only has 2 Cessna 172s:

Consair planes also had lots of iffy maintenance and avionics issues when I rented there. I liked plus one much better. BTW Jason, they carge $90/hr for a 152 up here in Connecticut... I'm totally envious!

WTF, I thought you moved to Pasadena LOL. $90/hr is rediculous! You should be flying an Archer for that much!

I think that Plus one is the best club in the county!!! Not only do you have a key to every aircraft, but they also have aircraft based all over the county (unless that has changed in the past 3 years). I was a member all the way up to my enlistment in the AF. The prices, you couldn't beat. I'm sure they've gone up since I've been there though, but I'd be willing to bet that they are still pretty reasonable. I flew the 152 and 172 out of KSEE all the time.
Anyways, those were just my thoughts.
