Karnage
I-am-a-pirate. I do not need credentials!
So the fam (me, wife, kiddo age 12) are planning a trip to Nor Cal to go bigfoot hunting up in the redwoods. (It's the only way to get the kid interested in hiking through the forest but I'll take it.)
We have two to three days to spend in San Francisco and I was trying to figure out the easiest/best place to stay that's city adjacent but not downtown. Trip would be in early October. We already have planned to see Alcatraz and the waterfront plus a few of the crazier sights like Lombard St, but am mostly just looking for ideas on an area to stay in that's not a hundred miles out but also not something downtown like our crew hotels as the kid has some anxiety issues and so having a place where we can be quite in the evenings for a while would be best. At best we'd only be able to manage 5-6 hours a day in the city each day so a little bit of a drive to some place a little more relaxing wouldn't be a problem.
