Pilot Slams Plane with small Daughter aboard into Inlaws House

It's all over the news here.

Very sad. Also very strange, no note, no voice mail, no stated intentions of suicide.

Dammit man... why you gotta take your little girl with you???

If your gonna kill yourself... fine... but taking your child with you is just beyond wrong.

Bob

This is beyond reprehensible. Just goes to show how sick and twisted some humans are. What a coward -- taking his little girl with him just to punish the ex. :(

You got that right, Coug. But, while its an extreme example, how many idiot parents punish their kids during divorces?

If you can't stay married, at least don't express your hurt and bitterness to or through your kids. That's just child abuse, pure and simple.

Suicide by small airplane has been done before. When Bill was a CFI in STL years ago there was a guy (I think he may have been a local newscaster?) who drove himself in one day in a piper. At least he did it out in the country, alone.

Taking the kid along with him was just horrible. There's no words to express how wrong that is.

Ironic you guys should mention that. I have a friend/neighbor who is going through a helluva time with her 12 year old son. He's already been arrested for assaulting a classmate. His idiot father is an ex-NYC detective and you want to know how "smart" he is? He rewards the kid with expensive clothing/toys. Doesn't see anything wrong with it either. I told my friend to haul his behind into court and ask the judge to stop visitation rights or at least have supervised ones. The kid prefers being with the father, gee ya think? The mom's already been hospitalized with anxiety attacks over this. Real bright and mature, eh? When the boy ends up dead or in Federal prison for murder, we'll all say we saw it coming. SAD!!!

It could have just been an accident and a coincidence, we don't know for sure that it was intentional.

The only really fishy part is that the child was supposed to have been dropped off at school this morning. The crash occured well past the time that she should have been in school.

You don't know what was happening in this individuals life. It's jacked up that he took a child with him, but it could have been a number of issues that clouded this persons judgement.

RIP

Exactly, he could have been showing his daughter the grandparents house.

While it does look like the guy went nuts and crashed the plane into the house on purpose, this is also a VERY good explanation for what happened. You guys would be really surprised at how many people eat it while trying to show off for others.

In any event this is tragic.

What seems SO fishy to me though is that she was supposed to be dropped off at school this morning. Why didn't he take her to school? I'm of the understanding that was part of the visitation agreement, that he'd take her to school today.

She was reported missing when the mother called the school and the school reported her not in attendance today.

Accidents happen, that's for sure. It's happened before on sight-seeing flights where you're concentrating so much on the object you're looking at that you forget to fly the plane. I guess my biggest red flag is the school issue.

This is just plain and simply stupid! I've been around IndyAero and just thinking about "poor pilot" all day long and thinking about the student that probably wrecked. Then it turned into this crap where the father becomes an idiot and kills a poor innoncent 8 year old girl. Its simply amazing. I just say thank you to the Indiana State Police for releasing the information because we all know the NTSB wasnt about to.

This def. was a scary experience as well today because my flight school managers father lives down in Bedford and all day long was thinking about his father who is taking lessons in this plane. So not only did this fool make his family hurt today but made quite a few people who have flown this plane and or know people who do wonder! What a darn shame! Just hits hard when such a poor innoncent child is involved! :(

May the young girl rest in peace!

I really want to hope it was an accident.

If it's as seems...don't know how to describe just how selfish and horrific the act was.
