Virginia State Police Chesterfield, Virginia:<BR />EXTENSION<br />GENERAL PUBLIC<br />WORKING TITLE: PILOT<br />SINGLE ENGINE<br />ROLE TITLE: &nbsp;PILOT I<br />POSITION #01127<br />STATEWIDE AVERAGE<br />SALARY $73,323 <br />PAY BAND 4<br />The<br />Virginia Department of State Police is seeking qualified applicants for a Pilot<br />Single Engine in the Aviation Unit, located in Chesterfield, Virginia. &nbsp;This is a Non-Exempt position; therefore, this<br />position is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.<br />NOTE: &nbsp;This position represents the average<br />statewide salary for this position. <br />Actual compensation is based on candidate&#8217;s specific knowledge, skill,<br />abilities, experience, and education as related to this particular position.<br />DUTIES: &nbsp;<br />&#183;Performs<br />all phases of flight planning in accordance with Department standard operating<br />procedures, and FAA regulations and protocols for missions including filing of<br />flight plans, reviewing airport conditions, coordinating with on-site Fixed<br />Based Operations (FBOs) for aircraft and passenger handling, reviewing weather<br />trends, forecasts, and conditions; preparing weight and balance records, and<br />recording flight data; and coordinating passenger loading and conducting<br />passenger briefings.<br />&#183;Communicates<br />all post flight information to FBOs to ensure all airport, nav-aid, and<br />aircraft status is up-to-date and any irregularities are communicated.<br />&#183;Reports<br />and forms are completed in accordance with Department standard operating<br />procedures, and FAA regulations, and protocols.<br />&#183;Completes<br />aviation base duties in accordance with established guidelines, timeframes, and<br />policies of the Department. &nbsp;This<br />includes the daily maintenance of aircraft in accordance with aircraft<br />manufacturer&#8217;s recommended procedures; the scheduling of maintenance in<br />accordance with protocols and/or observations; and conducting pre- and<br />post-flight inspections, and routine hangar maintenance. &nbsp;<br />&#183;Completes<br />training to maintain a high level of proficiency in operating assigned<br />aircraft. &nbsp;Successfully completes all<br />Departmental and FAA requirements within required timeframes.<br />&#183;Performs other<br />related assignments as necessary, remains in-service for emergencies, and works<br />on-call as required. <br />
