Sorry, I'm stuck at the Bedrock inn in Albany for at least another day. And the shuttle is down for weather, so I am bored! Enjoyed the brief Cruise/Rocketman reunion last night.

I haven't read the report yet.

Was the aircraft a MOOney?

I wonder what the pilot did to cowculate his final approach vector.

No, it was a (cow) Pie-per. Funny story, it belonged to a university that begins with "L" (LU). There is a legend that one of the local IAP fixes, COWLU (Cow-LU), is named in honor of this incident.

Good thing the pilot didn't buy the farm.
Too bad he didn't spot it earlier.
I would imagine that this incident left the pilot in a bad mood.
In reacting so well to the emergency, he showed himself to be no coward.
For the airplane to survive undamaged, it had to be quite beefy.
Is this a real story? Because it seems like a load of bull.

fortuntely the pilot had good stick and rudder skills . . .

I think the post above is funny because it chips away at the issue . . .

Did the prop chop?

OK I'm done, put a fork in me

I'm sure someone has heard of Troy Hartman...

Dropzone.com: I heard about this plane vs cow incident that cost you your Air Force career. What kind of plane did you crash? (In Playboy's May interview)
Troy: A T-41. A modified cessana. I was out screwing around with a buddy of mine. We could go check out the planes whenever we wanted and I got a little carried away with buzzing things.
