Job Summary
The Pilot FW operates De Havilland DHC-8 aircraft as a rated crewmember on approved mission in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau for Diplomatic Security (DS), under oversight from the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) located in the Republic of Iraq.
Principal Accountabilities
Transportation of cargo and passengers to include other missions as directed by the Senior Aviation Advisor. Operates De Havilland DHC-8 aircraft in support of the US Embassy in Iraq Applicant will be required to fly day and night, under visual and instrument meteorological conditions. Applicant will be required to maintain night currency and Instrument proficiency. The successful applicant may be assigned duties as Lead Pilot, and if qualified Standardization Pilot, Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Pilot, Maintenance Examiner, Pilot-in-Command, or other additional duties relating to flight operations as required. IP/SP - conducts academic and hands-on performance training, and administers evaluations to ensure pilot, load master/flight engineer proficiency and standardization of training in addition to maintaining IATF's and completing required AWIS entries. MP/ME - Performs operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet. Upon successful completion of initial training, assignment will be to the Republic of Iraq. The employee must be prepared for assignment to a remote area, under austere living and working condition. Perform rated crewmember duties in accordance with aircrew training program requirements. Plan and perform loading and unloading activities, compute the center-of-gravity position and ensure it is within prescribed limits at all times. Ensure the cargo compartment is properly configured for each mission. Verify and maintain a manifest for cargo and/or personnel. Supervise and participate in loading/unloading operations. Ensure cargo and passengers are properly restrained. Confirm security of cargo and passengers as necessary. Perform emergency procedure actions as required by applicable directives. Perform aircraft and ground servicing and training duties including fueling operations, aircraft configuration changes as assigned and required. Management may also assign duties as an Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Pilot, Standardization Pilot, Maintenance Examiner, or Lead Pilot.
Knowledge & Skills
FAA Commercial Airman Certificate with Instrument and Multi-engine Land rating, or military equivalent Branch 15 Aviation MOS series (155A or 1550 preferred) is required. An FAA CFII/MEI rating in type and category or military equivalent is required for applicants assigned as IP or SP. Must possess a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate. Compliance with the FAR Part 61.31 Type rating for the DHC-8 aircraft is required prior to or incident to assignment. Individual must demonstrate proficiency in understanding aircraft systems, components, and operations. Individual must possess a thorough knowledge of FAA and ICAO regulations pertinent to the host country and operational requirementIndividual should have experience using Falcon View or its equivalent. Individual must show documented completion of a manufacturer's course of instruction, military flight training or a DoS program of instruction in DHC-8 series aircraft. DHC-8 Instructor Pilot experience is desired. Instructor Pilot applicants must be an FAA Certified Flight Instructor or have documentation showing proof of completion of an equivalent military qualification. Possess or the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance is a condition of employment; an active Secret Security Clearance is preferredPossess a current US Passport or the ability to obtain one before assignment
