Piedmont

I noticed that at the upcoming job fair in ATL, their minimums are 600 with no multi minimums. Does anyone have an idea on how to get a response from them?

They were my first interview after graduation last August when I was 500 / 38; I thought all three phases of the interview went well, but the following week I received the "thanks, but no thanks" letter. I've had only one other interview since then, which was in December, which led to an offer, but the lack of pay in training, low pay, and the training contract drove me to request to be placed in a hiring pool. I was placed in a pool, but I now realize it was a mistake to not take the class date, and if there was any way I could take a class with them, I would.

Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. My times are 750 / 104 and I do have my ATP written completed. In terms of the NPRM, I have two degrees (BS in Economics from an ACC school and a BS in Professional Flight Management from an SEC school).

Thanks

I find it hard to believe that ANY 121 operator will hire someone with those times considering the upcoming changes to the requirements.

Lets say the job fair is tomorrow. You go to it and get an interview two weeks later. At the interview you get an offer for a class 2 weeks later. So its now the 2nd/3rd week of August. Initial generally takes about 2 months from start to finish, maybe a little more if you need extra sims/IOE whatever. So in this above (perfect, probably ridiculously unrealistic) scenario you are out on the line around Nov 1 with 9ish months to go from 600 hours to 1500 hours. 900 hours in 9-10 months isn't going to happen.

Perhaps they are banking on the aviation university/141 training loophole but as far as I've seen that isn't 100% to make it to the final rule. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

This is of course all considering that you go from job fair to class date in one month:cool: , and that the job fair is TOMORROW.

The aviation university/141 training loophole as it stands iirc 1000 tt, 325 or 350 cross country, 75 instrument, and either 50 or 100. These were the proposed times but nothing has come out since the commenting period closed in April.

If those minimums are legit, my guess is they are hiring into a pool. They will probably have class dates for people in the pool once they get their hours up. Mesaba was doing that awhile ago and assigning class dates once poolies reached 1000 hours. If your hired into the pool, but dont have a way to build hours it pretty much would be pointless.

I'm short on recommendations, but I can comment. ALPA informed my former pilot group (Colgan) that we had preferential hiring with Piedmont, and to send our resume to Bob Trout. I emailed mine and shipped a copy via FedEx back in April. I was flying the Saab with 1700TT and 450ME. Not a peep. Sent my info again, with an internal letter of recommendation. Nothing. As I interviewed at other regionals I kept meeting FO's leaving Piedmont. I'm currently sitting next to one in my new-hire class at XJT.

Cracking the Piedmont nut? Your guess is at least as good as mine.

Don't go to Piedmont. I was there for almost 5 years and left for a much better opportunity. You'll find much better opportunities elsewhere.

i'm noticing more and more airlines are creeping higher to the 1500 hour rule.

The minimums are creeping up every month. We hold job fairs every other month and the airlines increase their minimums by at least 100 hrs. Some airline increase their minimums up by 200 hrs. I would expect 1500 hours to be the norm by May 2013.

if there is anyone at mesaba that could help me get on , that would be great! I used to work as a A&P for them out of Austin,Tx and I just liked the company.

care to share?
The airline is dying a slow death and there's very little opportunity to upgrade. But, the airplane was a blast to fly, lots of good crews, and fun flying into smaller airports. You may not have the better overnights of the larger regionals but it's all what you make of it. Even with the latter advice, for your career's sake I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Not exactly true. I got a call from XJT to interview, interview the next week, and class started 1.5 weeks after that... Interview - IOE = 2.5 mo

That's interesting. Maybe they think the ruling will be pushed back or amended? There's no way someone with 600tt would have the required mins by next year if they haven't even interviewed yet.
