Hi guys,

Does anybody know what I need to bring with me to pick up my AGI certificate at San Diego's FSDO next week?

I forgot to ask them while I scheduled the appointment

Well, obviously I need the Written Exam result. Anything else?

Cheers,
Sandiegoflyr

Your test results -- including your 1) AGI and 2) FOI (Fundamentals of Instruction) test results. Also, a completed 8710. However, I hear that some FSDOs are now using IACRA to process all certificate applications (perhaps you can call them to figure out exactly what you need...).

Just call ahead on the IACRA thing. I was going to do my CFI renewal, and one inspector told me to do a paper 8710, then when I called to schedule the actual appointment, the inspector I met with told me to do IACRA.

Great, thanks to all of you!

I was afraid I need to do the 8710 thing, now I am certain. I will call them and see if they want paper or IACRA.

Cheers

I took the above mentioned items as well as my log book. Apparently I didn't need my log book because when Mr. FSDO saw it in my hand he said, "oh you brought your log book, let me take a look at that." He proceeded to thumb through the last couple pages as I began to question why the heck I had brought it with me. Thankfully he didn't find anything questionable and handed it back to me making small talk about mooney's and my home airport. Good ending, but I wished I hadn't given him the opportunity to look for something. Unless otherwise directed by your FSDO, I would leave the log book at home.

I just went to get mine on Friday. :) I took my test results, my teaching certificate (FOI test would be what you would bring instead), 8710 copy from IACRA (they didn't use it in Tampa, so I had to copy it onto a written one) and my driver's license. It only took about 20 minutes total (not counting trying to reach them by phone).

You don't need to fill in any of the flight time totals. Only the top portion and the very end (have you ever failed blah, blah, blah).

You don't need to fill in any of the flight time totals.

But why wouldn't you? If you were ever to loose a logbook, the 8710 is on file at the FAA and would give you a benchmark in starting a new one. I hope it never happens, but anytime I fill out an 8710 I fill in the flight time regardless if it is needed or not.

Well, I just filled out the 8710 and also added the flight time, just because my electronic logbook (Safelog) gives me the numbers with just a click anyway...

I'll be doing one in a month or two with the numbers and the school has a record of my hours, so I didn't feel it was needed. One of my friends told me he put his hours on his for that reason, I didn't see a need to now.

AGI at the FSDO

Is just a small matter whether to add in hours or not.

Applicant should be concern about the processing time. IACRA is no good at all.

Wait till the applicant applies and s/he will know how long it is going to take! :guns:

May not be the best system but it is leaps and bounds better than the old sys.

IACRA is great!

From my experience, all my certificate applications through IACRA have resulted in my permanent certificates being delivered within two weeks. Contrastingly, my non-IACRA/manual-8710 applications have resulted in my permanent certificates being delivered in up to six to eight weeks.

I wish Tampa used it. It is kind of weird they don't use their own system. He said it was taking 100 days now.

FAA is irresponsible. :whip:

You are damn lucky!

Till now, I have not receive mine! Coming to 4 months!

I have another additional flight rating through IACRA, it is coming to two months, and I am still waiting! :banghead:

Dude, I hate to say it but you are the exception to the rule. I've sent about a dozen students through IACRA since we started using it. Other than us not knowing how to use it at first we haven't had a single problem. Easier and faster.
